Your Help is Needed and Requested

We would like to begin by acknowledging those of you who have reached out to us, checking in on the YTTP community and our teachers, and asking how you can help. Your inquiries have been heartwarming.
Donation is the obvious response to how you can help. We recently received a modest donation with an apology. “I’m sorry this is all I can do. I know it’s not much, and Yoga to the People has been there for me through some very tough times.” You can feel the sincerity, the gratitude, and not to go too biblical on you, but this person was giving from their all, not from their abundance – all their heart, all their intention, all their love. No donation is too small. It may seem like the tiniest of sparks, but that is the beauty of our community. When many sparks come together they create a significant flame, a flame that can radiate and burn hotter, brighter and higher for others to see.
Donations are not meant to create a hardship. If they stretch you in the slightest, ok, but never a hardship. If you are not in a position to contribute financially, your donation can be expressed by talking to your friends and family, and encouraging them to explore the practice and to connect with our community. It can be by engaging in social media; each post or sharing is like a pulse or heartbeat… it keeps the YTTP community vibrant and living. Your inspirational posts can touch and motivate others who may need a lift, a nudge or reminder.
It’s not uncommon during uncertain, ever-changing, and stressful times for our attention to be drawn inward. Our emotional survival, mental survival, and financial survival are primal and can be somewhat paralyzing. As you selflessly evolve beyond being a member of the YTTP community and into becoming a builder of the YTTP community, you open up the possibility of coming from those other primal places such as love, compassion, connection and community. Allow your flicker to immerse with the larger flame, we need not feel alone.
We don’t take this request lightly. Thank you in advance for your contributions, in whatever form they are.

Power Vinyasa Flow

Our power vinyasa flow classes are inspired by Bryan Kest, a profound teacher who has found the balance between effort, awareness and breath. The emphasis is on you, not on any particular teacher.

Power Vinyasa classes are vigorous, yet accessible. They utilize fluid transitions from pose to pose, seamlessly linking body, breath, and movement. These classes are not heated.

Power Vinyasa classes are donation based!

A donation is the sacred act of giving. There is a suggested donation of $10 a class. Suggested donation means that if you can put $10 in the box, please do. If you are not in a position to do so, contribute what you can. Nobody will be keeping track of individual donations. The $10 dollar donation is not meant as a bottom or a top limit if you are in a position to donate more, it will help support your yoga community. Available at East Village, UWS, Astoria, Brooklyn, San Francisco , Berkeley, Oakland and Tempe AZ

Traditional Hot Yoga

Our Hot Yoga classes are 60 minutes long. They consist of 2 breathing exercises and a series of poses incorporating balance, strength and flexibility. These classes are done in a heated room of 105-108 degrees.

These classes are not Bikram Yoga and our studios are not Bikram affiliated. Available at Chelsea Hot on Yoga, Brooklyn and Coming Soon to Astoria.

Mantra

There will be no correct clothes
There will be no proper payment
There will be no right answers
No glorified teachers
No ego no script no pedestals
No you’re not good enough or rich enough
This yoga is for everyone
This sweating and breathing and becoming
This knowing glowing feeling
Is for the big, small, weak and strong
Able and crazy
Brothers, sisters, grandmothers
The mighty and meek
Bones that creak
Those who seek
This power is for everyone
